Black & White Conversion using Lightroom and or Photoshop

Colour images can be converted to Black and White  by  dragging the saturation slider all the way to the left however this is not always the best way to go about converting colour images to B&W, as certain colours contribute more than others to the overall luminance of the image.   The best way to achieve a good conversion is to alter the individual colour channels.

RGB's luminance values differ to that of the human eyes, so playing around with the individual colour channels will affect the images differently.
To convert a colour image to B&W first select the B&W tab on menu bar at R/H side in Lightroom. Then proceed to separately adjust each colour channel to see the effect it gives.
For example Green gives the most luminance to an image while Red then Blue give the least.
Making further adjustments for example to the exposure and contrast will help to further enhance the image.

Open the image you wish to convert in Photoshop.  Create a new B&W adjustment layer in the adjustments panel.  Again adjust the individual colour channels.
Adjusting the Brightness/Contrast, Exposure will further enhance your image.

Here are some colour images of mine that I have converted to B & W

This Image has been converted using Lightroom,  First I converted the image using the B&W tab, then I altered the individual colour channels.  I think this image works well.

Some more.
